EMG (Electromyography) - Measures electrical activity within the muscle and analyzing these activities can help detect nerve or muscle injury, type of injury and its recovery status.A small needle is inserted in the muscle to be tested. This needle electrode is connected to a software where electrical activity within the muscle is converted into a waveform and seen on the computer monitor. Normal and abnormal activities have got distinct shape, sound and many other features which are then analyzed to get the confirmed diagnosis
INCV (Nerve Conduction Velocity) - Measures the speed at which an impulse can travel in a nerve. This helps detect whether the nerve being tested is normal, has a block or is damaged. Patch like surface electrodes are attached at specific sites of a muscle whose nerve is to be tested and an electrical stimulation is given to the nerve. Response is converted in a waveform which is displayed on a computer screen. Whether the nerve is normal or what type of damage is present in a nerve is being detected by the shape, size and speed of conduction of the nerve. NCV detects abnormality of both motor and sensory nerves.
Electrodiagnosis - Electrodiagnosis (EDX) is a method of medical diagnosis that obtains information about diseases by passively recording the electrical activity of body parts (that is, their natural electrophysiology) or by measuring their response to external electrical stimuli (evoked potentials).Electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction velocity (NCV) are electrodiagnostic tests that measure the electrical activity of muscles and nervesAn EMG and NCV may be used to determine:
The test is performed with the help of software and specially designed equipment. It consists of software with a computer, a specialized box known as a preamplifier and amplifier. This junction box modifies, magnifies and processes bioelectric signals coming from nerve / muscle which are displayed on the computer screen.
Proficiency Certificate Course – 6 months course in hybrid mode. Lectures online and practicals offline. This course is in affiliation with AACE and Parul University. Upon completion of the course, participants can perform the EMG NCV test independently.
4-days hands-on workshop - This is a sensitizing course to give a basic outline of the test and its importance. This can ignite participants to explore this study as a career option and may then enroll in our certificate course. This 4 days workshop also helps Postgraduate students to understand this concept which is one of the important topics in the PG curriculum. Below is the schedule for four days workshop
1-day workshop – This is mainly designed to create awareness about this technique among the students and professionals.
